DWP spent £92,249.86 failing to block the naming and shaming of workfare hosts

The DWP says it spent £92,249.86 to stop ‘charities’ and businesses being named and shamed as workfare hosts. This excludes costs the Information Commissioner incurred winning against the DWP’s refusal to release the names of 500+ placement hosts of  Mandatory Work Activity and Work Programme workfare schemes, requested over 4 years ago.

“The information the Department holds in relation to your request show that legal fees total  £92, 249.86. This figure includes litigation costs as well as Counsel and court fees.”
